1. Take a quick look through.

Read the contents page and find the section that matches what you are trying to do today. You do not have to work through everything at once.

2. Print just what you need.

Use your PDF reader’s page selection to print the worksheets you want to write on. Reading the explanations on your phone or computer can save a little paper. Check print preview before you start.

3. Choose one small task.

Maybe it is gathering documents, writing down a question, or checking an official website. Pick something you can actually finish, and mark it off when it is done.

4. Keep the useful bits together.

A folder, envelope, or binder works. Keep blank worksheets alongside your notes, and store confirmations somewhere you will remember. Keep private ID numbers and passwords out of ordinary worksheets.

5. Come back when you are ready.

A kit is a tool, not a deadline. Make a note of your next step so you can pick up where you left off. For a government program, always check its current official requirements and deadlines.
